Our mouth, the oral cavity is the center for so many pleasurable experiences: tasting, speaking, laughing, smiling, kissing. Yet, this area can be a site for painful toothaches, gum disease, cold sores, fungal infections, and a window to more systemic illnesses. Problems in your mouth can affect the rest of your body too. Brushing and flossing are part of a basic hygiene practice, but there is more to consider. Let’s broaden our holistic view and incorporate the mouth as part of total health and well being.
Inge “Yaya” Ford, DMD, E-RYT 500
Dr. Inge Ford is a General Dentist, Experienced-Registered Yoga Teacher and Integrative Wellness Educator. Inge is an incessant seeker of all things inspirational, creative and fun. She has been a dentist for more than twenty years and yoga practitioner for over thirty-eight.
Dr. Ford, a graduate from University of Florida-College of Dentistry, is a certified yoga instructor with specialties in women’s health, Ayurveda, Thai Yoga bodywork and Reiki healing. Through these modalities, she understands that the oral cavity is not only the first line in the digestive process but, critical to total health–nutrition and wellness. Her yoga approach is mindfulness – union, all as one.
Inge continues to educate, promote and embody the tenor of wellness to any and everyone she meets. Yoga asana classes with Inge are fun, creative and encouraging. She constantly seeks knowledge through advanced studies, and volunteerism. Her approach and style of teaching are rooted in Integral Hatha, Pranayama, and Yin with aspects of Traditional Chinese Medicine. This increases self-awareness that promotes mental calmness and embraces meditation. This can and does improve one’s quality of life.
She is passionate about encouraging others to go beyond the status quo and approach barriers–whether, physical, mental, or emotional to journey back to the healthier Self. Yaya teaches yoga and integrative wellness in a group and private settings throughout the United States and internationally. Age, gender or physical limitations are no barriers. If you breathe, you’re a yogi!
In addition, to her dental practice, yoga and wellness activities Inge is a world traveler, urban agro-enthusiast, guest speaker and charitable supporter.
